Where the Wild Things Are

    We just started reading about "the wild things" from Maurice Sendak's book Where the Wild Things Are.  We talked about how each wild thing looked and then the students listed descriptive words about these creatures.
    We just made wild thing costumes so that the students can write math story problems about our wild things and then act the math stories out.  For example the children might make this problem and then act it out:  There were three striped wild things climbing a tree and 3 more joined them. How many wild things were there altogether?
